Nitin Tandon was removed as the Vice-Chancellor of CT University in Jagraon on Tuesday over allegations of misbehaviour” with Kashmiri students.The private university has also initiated an internal probe into the issue.The students had claimed that they had requested for sehri and iftar arrangements at the university mess due to Ramzan.Tandon allegedly used abusive language against them and threatened to cancel their admissions, according to the students.Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti, had brought the issue to the notice of Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann through her social media account. She had demanded action against the university authorities. Earlier in the day, the students staged protests on the university campus.Issue resolved amicably: DCLudhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said the district administration, in coordination with the SSP (Rural) and Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, “amicably resolved” the issue.Jain added that the students called off their agitation after the district administration ordered a thorough inquiry into the matter and the university terminated the services of the Vice-Chancellor.The Deputy Commissioner thanked the university management for maintaining peace and “resolving the issue amicably through dialogue”.
