In a landmark achievement for endurance cycling, Patiala-based cyclist Kanwar Gill has become the first cyclist from Punjab to secure all major honours under the prestigious Audax system, bringing immense pride to the state.With years of dedication and passion for ultra-distance cycling, he has earned 42 Super Randonneur (SR) Titles under Audax Club Parisien,International Super Randonneur recognition, R5000 Medal, R10000 Medal and the prestigious Lepertel LRM Award presented by Les Randonneurs Mondiaux.Lepertel LRM Award is considered one of the toughest distinctions in randonneuring, requiring cyclists to complete 1,200 km or longer official LRM rides over four continuous years, including events in multiple countries.An alumnus of The Punjab Public School, Nabha, Gill displayed exceptional sporting talent from a young age. During his school years, he served as Athletic Captain and was recognised as the best boxer, reflecting his early commitment to discipline, fitness, and competitive spirit.Adding another major milestone to his journey, Gill is also a proud finisher of the 2023 edition of Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP), one of the world’s oldest and most demanding long-distance cycling events.Gill’s achievements reflect extraordinary endurance, determination, and a lifelong dedication to sport. This historic accomplishment marks not just personal success, but a proud chapter for Punjab’s sporting community. ‎“I get up at 4 am every day and it has been my routine for the past over five years and despite meeting a few accidents on roads and injuries, I continued to pursue my passion. I do not take any breaks to ensure that I bring laurels to my state and district. My wife Honey Gill has always supported me and understands my commitment to cycling due to which I have been able to concentrate on my cycling,” says Gill, who is an advocate by profession.
