Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will personally appear before the Delhi High Court tomorrow to argue his plea on the recusal of judge Swarna Kanta Sharma from hearing the matter pertaining to the Delhi excise case.Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and other senior AAP leaders discharged in the case by a Delhi court recently, had earlier moved a recusal application before the Delhi High Court, urging judge Sharma not to hear the CBI appeal against the discharge order of the lower court which had favoured AAP leaders in the controversial case.Kejriwal and others had also written to Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Upadhyaya requesting the matter be transferred to some other Bench rather than the single Bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma. The HC had, however, declined the request. Now, Kejriwal will appear personally before the high court tomorrow and argue the matter as to why he is requesting judge Sharma’s recusal. In the petition seeking transfer of the matter to another Bench, AAP leaders had earlier said the stated Bench may not grant an impartial hearing.Importantly, Kejriwal will be the second top Opposition leader after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to argue his own case before a court.Earlier, Mamata had argued a petition against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision before the Supreme Court.
