‘Looking forward to meeting my friend’: PM Modi remembers President Donald Trump’s first term before departing for US | India News




NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he was ‘looking forward to meeting his friend’ US President Donald Trump and remembered working together in his first term. “Looking forward to meeting my friend, President Trump and have a very warm recollection of working together in his first term,” PM Modi said in a departure statement.”My visit to US will be an opportunity to develop an agenda to further elevate and deepen India-US partnership,” he added.Announcing PM Modi’s official working visit, foreign secretary Vikram Misri had earlier said the PM would be among the first world leaders to visit the US in the first few weeks of the second Trump administration, in a sign of the bipartisan US support for the partnership with India.PM Modi will fly to Washington from Paris where he will participate in an AI summit on Feb 10 and 11 and also have a bilateral meeting with President Emmanuel Macron.The prime minister will have restricted and delegation-level talks with Trump and interact with business leaders, as well as the Indian community, on Feb 13.
