As the LPG supply crunch continues and panic booking escalates, the government on Saturday banned domestic LPG for homes with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections.Amending the LPG Regulation of Supply and Distribution Order, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a notification asking PNG users to surrender domestic LPG connections. The amendment seeks to prevent duplication of subsidised domestic fuel connections, sources said.Under the new regulation, households with PNG connections are ineligible for domestic LPG cylinders.Officials said the move is intended to prevent duplication of domestic cooking fuel connections and ensure more efficient distribution of LPG, particularly in areas where piped natural gas infrastructure is already available.
