Luigi Mangione: UnitedHealthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione tells fans to stop flooding him with photos: ‘No more than five at a time’

Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has a message for his devoted supporters—stop flooding him with so many photos.A notice on the website for his legal defence fund states that the sheer volume of pictures being sent to his Brooklyn federal jail has made it difficult for him to keep up. “Luigi is allowed to receive photos via Shutterfly and FreePrints in accordance with mail procedures while in custody,” the FAQ section explains. “Due to the volume of photos, they could take longer than usual to be screened and shared.” It continues: “Luigi appreciates the photos that are sent and kindly asks that people send no more than five photos at a time.” Every image sent to Mangione undergoes a thorough screening process, with law enforcement reviewing each one before they are passed along to him.The 26-year-old was arrested after a five-day manhunt and has quickly become a cult figure for some disillusioned with the private health insurance industry. The Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family has been held in Brooklyn since his arrest for allegedly gunning down Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last December. Mangione became a social media sensation after his method of killing Thompson, using bullets engraved with ‘Deny, Defend, Depose’.Despite pleading not guilty to multiple murder charges—including murder as an act of terrorism—Mangione has amassed a devoted following. Last week, dozens of supporters braved freezing temperatures outside a Manhattan courthouse just to catch a glimpse of him at his latest hearing. His legal defence fund, managed by the December 4 Legal Committee, has raked in more than $615,000. In a statement on the website, Mangione expressed gratitude for the support. “I am overwhelmed by — and grateful for — everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support. Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions,” he said. “While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future.”Mangione’s lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, confirmed that he will be using the donations to fund his legal battle. “Luigi is aware of the fund and very much appreciates the outpouring of support. My client plans on utilizing it to fight all three of the unprecedented cases against him,” Agnifilo said in a statement released by the legal committee. The December 4 Legal Committee has insisted that Mangione’s influential family—who funded his Ivy League education—is not contributing to his legal expenses.“We’re thrilled that Luigi is accepting these funds so that he can mount the strongest defence possible,” committee spokesperson Sam Beard said. The fundraiser, which has drawn over 10,000 individual contributions, reflects the frustration of many who blame private health insurance companies for denying medical claims and plunging families into debt.
