The Moga police have recovered 160 lost or stolen mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners. The devices were traced and recovered since January 1, 2026, using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a centralised online platform for reporting lost or stolen mobiles. The police used technical surveillance and coordination with other districts and states to track down the missing gadgets.Speaking at a special function, SP (Headquarters) Sandeep Singh emphasised technology’s growing role in modern policing, enabling swift action on CEIR complaints. He urged citizens to report incidents promptly and avoid buying second-hand phones without proper documentation. The police also advised depositing abandoned or unclaimed mobiles at the nearest police station to prevent misuse and securing devices with strong passwords. Several owners were pleasantly surprised by the police’s success in tracing and returning their phones.
