The parents of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala staged a sit-in protest inside the SSP office in Mansa on Wednesday. They sat on the floor for around 45 minutes, demanding that the police register an FIR over an alleged financial fraud linked to two companies owned by their son.The protest coincided with DIG Bathinda range Harjeet Singh’s visit to the office in connection with Operation Prahar 2.0.Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur said they had already filed a complaint with Punjab DGP AS Rai against Moosewala’s former manager and two others. They accused them of cheating the family in earnings from digital platforms after the singer’s death.Balkaur Singh said the complaint was sent to the SSP and an SP had also conducted an inquiry, but no FIR has been registered so far. He alleged that the police were deliberately delaying action and claimed they were being pressured by money. He said the family had given all documents to the police and was ready to face action if their complaint was false. He added that the family is old, unwell and emotionally broken after losing their only earning member. Despite this, they are being forced to repeatedly visit police offices. He said they would not leave until an FIR is registered.Sources said the complaint concerns total earnings from various digital platforms since Moosewala’s death, amounting to approximately US$ 1.15 crore.“Nearly US$ 70 lakh have been paid to Moosewala’s parents in instalments since May 2022, but over US$ 37 lakh remains pending, as per their complaint,” said sources.Charan Kaur warned that if anything happened to them, the Mansa police would be responsible. After meeting DIG Harjeet Singh and the SSP, the parents again sat on the floor but did not speak to the media about what was discussed in the meeting.
