At 45, Nitin Nabin has become the youngest-ever national president of the BJP.Nabin was on Tuesday formally declared the new national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), succeeding J P Nadda and marking the beginning of a new chapter for the ruling party as it looks to further consolidate its political dominance across the country. The results of the BJP’s organisational elections were announced by K Laxman, the party’s Returning Officer, who handed over the certificate of election to Nabin at a ceremony held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outgoing president J P Nadda, and senior BJP leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present to witness the leadership transition.Nitin Nabin is the 12th national president of the BJP since its founding in 1980 — a year that coincidentally also marks his birth. Known as a low-profile and unassuming leader, Nabin had recently resigned from his ministerial positions in the Bihar government, where he held portfolios including law and justice, urban development, and housing. His resignation followed his appointment as the BJP’s working president on December 14, a move widely seen as a signal of his elevation to the top post.Announcing the election results, Laxman said the outcome reflected the BJP’s internal culture. “This election shows that in the BJP, leadership rises from hard work and dedication, not from dynastic privilege,” he said.Addressing party workers and leaders, J P Nadda described the moment as historic. “Today, our young, energetic and talented Nitin Nabin is taking charge as the national president of the world’s largest political party. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to him on my behalf and on behalf of crores of workers,” Nadda said.Nabin’s elevation is being viewed as a generational shift in the BJP’s leadership as the party prepares for future electoral challenges. With PTI inputs
