Residents, led by former sarpanch Rupinder Singh Pindu, have urged the Union Government and the Punjab Government to come to the family’s rescue and facilitate the transportation of the body.Tufail Mohammad, a tempo driver and Ramjan’s father, and his wife are devastated that they allowed their only son to go to Dubai in search of a better life. However, the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, Ramadan holidays in Dubai, and post-murder legal procedures have complicated the repatriation process. The aggrieved family has demanded a probe by senior UAE police officials into the sequence of events leading to Ramjan’s death. Meanwhile, Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh Boparai has claimed to have taken up the issue with the Union Foreign Affairs Minister. “I talked to the minister, who assured me that he would coordinate with authorities in Dubai to expedite the repatriation process,” Boparai said.
