A man lost his life in a tragic road accident in Ludhiana on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on the stretch between the Dholewal flyover and Gill Road Chowk, where a speeding vehicle struck the man, killing him on the spot.The driver fled with the vehicle, and passersby informed the police.Eye witness said the man was hit by a truck, though police are currently refraining from commenting on this matter. They said they will be able to determine whether the accident was caused by a truck or another vehicle after reviewing CCTV footage.Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the spot and tried to identify the body, but were unsuccessful. Police also conducted inquiries in the surrounding areas, but were unable to find any trace of the family.The body was shifted to the civil hospital’s mortuary for 72 hours. If it remains unidentified by the stipulated time, a post-mortem will be conducted. Preliminary investigations indicate the deceased was approximately 30 to 32 years old. Police suspected that he may have been from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar.In another incident, a woman on her way to work at Dholewal Chowk died in a road accident on Friday morning. The woman, identified as Uman Jain, was riding a Rapido bike, which suddenly lost control and fell. A speeding heavy truck coming from behind struck her.
