As hostilities continue to intensify across West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a series of high-level telephone conversations with key regional leaders, reaffirming India’s support for peace efforts and prioritising the safety of Indian nationals living in the conflict-hit region.The PM spoke with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and discussed the evolving security situation following recent attacks targeting the kingdom.Condemning the strikes as violations of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Modi stressed that the earliest restoration of regional peace and stability remained essential. He also thanked the Saudi leadership for ensuring the welfare of the large Indian community residing in the country amid the ongoing crisis.In a separate conversation, the PM spoke with Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, expressing solidarity with Bahrain following recent attacks on the Gulf nation.Modi said India strongly condemned the attacks and stood with the people of Bahrain during the difficult period. He conveyed appreciation for the continued support extended by the Bahraini authorities to Indian nationals.Modi also held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to review the rapidly changing regional situation. He conveyed India’s concerns over the escalating conflict and emphasised that protection of civilians must remain a priority.The PM reiterated India’s consistent position calling for an early cessation of hostilities and a return to dialogue and diplomacy.Earlier in the day, speaking alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, PM Modi described the situation in West Asia as a matter of “deep concern”, underlining that India had consistently advocated peace, stability and diplomatic resolution of disputes.India has stepped up diplomatic engagement with regional partners as tensions threaten to widen into a broader conflict, with thousands of Indians living and working across West Asian countries affected by airspace closures, security alerts and disruption to normal life.Officials said New Delhi continued to closely monitor developments while coordinating with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of the Indian diaspora in the region.
