Hours after the hike in the commercial LPG cylinder prices, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said the impact of the West Asia conflict had been felt in India sooner than expected due to the faulty policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a rally, Vadra said more difficulties could lie ahead due to the policies of the BJP-led NDA government. “If Modi had kept the policies slightly balanced, and had not made the country a slave of America and Israel, this situation would not have happened so soon,” she added.Prices of commercial LPG cylinders were hiked by Rs 195.50 on Wednesday, following a surge in global oil prices linked to the West Asia conflict. “There is indeed a global crisis, but we also need to understand that more problems could arise due to certain policies of the government,” Priyanka said.In back-to-back poll rallies in Assam, Priyanka also slammed Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and alleged that “one family was looting” everything in the resource-rich state, while the people “didn’t have anything”.Vadra alleged that the NDA government was functioning by threatening the people. During a rally at Nazira in support of party candidate Debabrata Saikia, she claimed, “One family is looting everything in Assam. And when they are not looting, mines, lands and every other asset are being handed over to big industrialists.””The BJP said they have given a double-engine government. In reality, it is a double-ghulami (slavery) government. PM Modi is engaged in slavery of the US, and Himanta Biswa Sarma is engaged in slavery of Modi,” she said. She also attacked the BJP government for failing to fulfil the promise of hiking daily wages of tea garden workers and stressed that the people from the gardens were struggling in the same way.”Besides, the BJP had promised to accord ST status to various tribal communities, but failed to give it,” the Lok Sabha MP said. The Congress leader also alleged that women of Assam were forced to attend rallies of the PM and the CM with threats that their names would be removed from various schemes, especially the flagship poverty alleviation scheme ‘Orunodoi’.”Modi and Himanta are ruling the country and state with fear and threats. Our fight is against that fear, and for protecting Assam’s culture and civilisation,” Vadra asserted. She also conducted rallies in Tingkhong and Khowang on Wednesday.Polling for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held on April 9, while the results will be declared on May 4.
