The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Friday declared the Class 8 results for the academic session 2025–26, with girls outperforming boys and securing the top three merit positions.A total of 2,62,966 students from 10,422 schools appeared in the examination, out of which 2,53,789 were declared pass, taking the overall pass percentage to 96.51%—a marginal dip of less than one percentage point from 97.30% recorded in 2024–25.Continuing their strong performance, girls recorded a pass percentage of 97.74%, significantly higher than 95.42% for boys. The transgender category achieved a 100% pass rate, with all 8 candidates clearing the exam.In the merit list, Tamanna, of Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito (Faridkot), secured first position with a perfect 600/600 (100%).Japneet Kaur from Government Middle School, Arkwas (Sangrur), and Jashandeep Kaur from Sant Mohan Dass Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia (Faridkot) jointly secured 598/600 (99.67%), bagging second and third positions, respectively.
