Former minister and late Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Tota Singh’s son, Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar, who quit the SAD (Punar Surjit) three days ago, is set to return to the Akali Dal on Tuesday.His re-induction will take place in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal at the latter’s residence in Badal village, Muktsar district.Makhan served as the chairman of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) during the SAD-BJP government in the state. He had, however, left the party and joined the SAD (Punar Surjit).On Saturday, Makhan announced his resignation from the primary membership of the SAD (Punar Surjit) and all other positions in the party through a Facebook post.He further accused SAD (Punar Surjit) president Giani Harpreet Singh and Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali of misleading the ‘Panth’ (Sikh community) by “joining hands with agencies.”Sources in the SAD said that Makhan, along with his supporters, is expected to reach Badal’s residence at about 10 am, where he would be re-inducted into the party fold.Makhan unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections in 2017 and 2022 from the Moga constituency on a SAD ticket. Besides, he earlier served as the president of Moga Municipal Council (now Moga Municipal Corporation).Following the demise of his father, he was made the party’s in-charge for the Dharamkot constituency in Moga district.In a Facebook post on Monday, Makhan claimed that his supporters were appreciating his decision to quit the SAD (Punar Surjit).Some SAD leaders believe that his return will significantly benefit the party in Moga district. Makhan Brar, however, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
