As the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 entered its second day, showcasing business opportunities, the state government emphasised on nine priority sectors.Speaking during a session on Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) held at Plaksha University, Seema Bansal, chairperson of the Punjab Development Commission, said ESDM was one of the nine sectors identified by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government. “Apart from policy incentives, Punjab provides a conducive business environment along with premier technical institutes, a skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure,” she added.Avinash Singh from Toppan Speciality Films Pvt. Ltd. said his company received incentives that exceeded expectations while setting up operations in the state. Kamaljeet Singh from HCL Technologies added that there was a huge demand for electronic chips across industrial sectors, indicating strong growth potential.Another speaker, Prithvideep Singh from CDIL Semiconductors, said Mohali was competing strongly with India’s major technology hubs such as Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.Meanwhile, three new world-class exhibition centres were announced for Ludhiana, New Chandigarh and Amritsar.Interacting with industrialists during the summit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab does not have big exhibition centres due to which the industry does not have proper places to showcase their products. To address this gap, the government is in the process of setting up three world-class exhibition centres at Ludhiana, New Chandigarh and Amritsar on the lines of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.”
