Punjabi actor and singer Gippy Grewal, aka Rupinder Singh Grewal, has reportedly received a threat call from a foreign-based gangster. Sources say notorious gangster Goldy Brar called Grewal and threatened him for ignoring his repeated calls. A purported audio recording of the phone call has gone viral on social media, with the caller heard threatening the 43-year-old singer “not to ignore his messages as messages can be ignored but not bullets” and attacking his Mohali house.SAD leader and former Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal alleged that Grewal received the threat call after his security was withdrawn. “Disturbed to learn that our superstar Gippy Grewal received a threat from notorious gangster Goldy Brar — right after CM Bhagwant Mann withdrew his security cover, just because he came to meet me at my Badal residence recently!” he posted on X.Senior police officials remained tight-lipped about the incident, merely saying it’s being probed. Badal also alleged that law and order have totally collapsed, and security is now decided on the CM’s whims. “We already lost one of our best singers, Sidhu Moosewala, due to Bhagwant’s disastrous decision to withdraw his security and leak it to the media,” he said. The singer has had previous run-ins with gangsters. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for gunshots fired outside Grewal’s home in Vancouver’s White Rock neighbourhood on November 25, 2023. Earlier, in December 2019, he received an extortion call from gangster Dilpreet Dahan. Grewal’s recently released movie, “Akaal: The Unconquered”, has reportedly hurt religious sentiments.
