Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking removal of alleged defamatory online content that links her to American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a civil suit seeking damages of Rs 10 crore, Himayani has requested the court to pass a “John Doe” order directing the removal of the content from various online platforms. She has also sought an unconditional public apology from those responsible for publishing and circulating the material.According to the plea, several defendants have published and circulated false and defamatory statements about her across digital and social media platforms, causing serious damage to her reputation. The suit alleged that a coordinated online campaign has been carried out to falsely associate her with Epstein and his criminal activities. It states that beginning around February 22, 2026, a number of misleading posts, videos, articles and other digital material began circulating on social media and intermediary platforms. These include platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, along with blogs, digital news portals and other web-based publications.Himayani has told the court that the campaign is “coordinated and motivated”, with the intention of maligning her reputation in India and abroad. She has stated that the content remains widely accessible online and continues to circulate on social media, resulting in sustained reputational harm. The suit further claimed that the defendants had fabricated and spread baseless allegations suggesting that she maintained direct or indirect business, financial or personal links with Epstein or with individuals associated with him.It also referred to claims circulated online alleging that she or a firm where she previously worked received funding or financial benefits from Epstein or his associates. Another allegation cited in the suit claimed that she worked with Robert Millard to engineer the collapse of the financial services firm Lehman Brothers.Himayani has described these claims as entirely false and without any factual basis. The suit said the defendants named in the case, along with several unidentified individuals described as “John Doe” or “Ashok Kumar”, had deliberately spread the allegations using sensational and misleading formats. As per the plea, the material included edited videos, misleading captions and manipulated thumbnails designed to increase virality and provoke public outrage, thereby causing damage to her reputation.
