Neelam Hospital has introduced Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), a minimally invasive procedure for heart valve replacement, marking a step forward in cardiac care in the region. The service was announced by Prof. Himanshu Gupta, Director of Cardiac Sciences, who has been performing TAVI since 2019. After joining the hospital in November 2025, he conducted the facility’s first successful procedure.TAVI is considered beneficial for patients at high risk for open-heart surgery. The catheter-based technique replaces damaged valves without large incisions, leading to reduced pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery.Hospital authorities said the initiative is part of efforts to bring advanced medical technology closer to patients.Officials added that the procedure offers a safer alternative and reduces the need for patients to travel to metropolitan centres for treatment
