Singer Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, appeared before the Panchkula police on Thursday in connection with an FIR registered over his recently released controversial song and video, “Tateeree.”Earlier, a case was registered at Cyber Police Station, Sector-20, Panchkula, on March 6 under Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.Also read: Police will not act on women panel order against rapper Badshah: Haryana tells HCAccording to police sources, Badshah was interrogated and released on bail. “The offences mentioned in the FIR were bailable. After taking his bail, he was allowed to leave,” said a senior officer.The “Tateeree” video shows young girls in school uniforms throwing their school bags and running away from their studies. The use of words such as “badshala” misrepresents the school and its educational environment, said the police. Furthermore, the song allegedly contains objectionable and indecent words directed towards women and girls.The controversy surrounding the song “Tateeree” centers on the meaning of its lyrics and the way they are presented in the music video, which many people find vulgar and inappropriate.The word “Tateeree” itself comes from the Haryanvi language and refers to the grey francolin, a bird commonly found in rural parts of North India.During the investigation, it has also been revealed that the video shows a Haryana Roadways bus from the Jind depot. The police have questioned the rapper about whether proper permission was obtained from the relevant department for the bus to be used in the video.The video also depicts a government school campus. He was questioned whether permission was obtained from the competent authority for the shooting.Earlier, the Panchkula police issued a formal notice to the accused singer to appear before the police immediately.Panchkula police have removed the song from the YouTube channel. Additionally, notices have been issued to remove the related video from all social media platforms to prevent the spread of alleged objectionable content.The police have clarified that if anyone is found spreading objectionable content by creating or sharing reels or videos related to this controversial song, strict action will be taken against them as per the law.As the backlash intensified against the song, the rapper apologised for the song. The National Commission for Women has also summoned Badshah and the makers of the Tateeree track.
