A family had a narrow escape after the roof of their house collapsed at Sant Nagari in Abohar due to incessant rain and hailstorm.Sharing details, Veena Rani said her mother-in-law and children were sleeping in separate rooms. “Around 12 am, a portion of the ceiling fell in the room of my mother-in-law, who alerted the kids. As soon as they stepped out, roof came crashing down,” Rani said.She said their beds, storage chests, TV and refrigerator got buried under the debris. The aggrieved family has appealed to the administration to provide them compensation for repairing their house.Abohar witnessed rain and hailstorm for six days in the past week, causing large-scale damage to wheat and mustard crops and orchards. Lightning has also damaged several houses in Indira Nagari and Nai Abadi of Abohar.
