Former union sports minister and now Member of Parliament, Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur on Tuesday inaugurated the international standard synthetic athletic track constructed at a cost of ₹10.5 crore to modernise the sports facilities at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh.Thakur said, “Today I had the privilege of inaugurating the synthetic athletic track on the Haryana Central University campus. The 400-meter, international-standard synthetic track will boost the sports infrastructure on the university campus and provide athletes with modern facilities for practice. This facility will be extremely beneficial to the university students as well as the region’s budding athletes.”Thakur said, “Our goal is to establish India as one of the top five global sports superpowers. Making India a global sports superpower is also part of our dream of a developed India. There was a time when we were either nowhere in the medal table at international sports competitions or stood at the bottom with just one or two medals. Today, the performances of Indian athletes are being discussed around the world.”
