Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Monday announced that the state government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, providing cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh, will be formally launched on January 22.Addressing a press conference at the AAP office in Chandigarh, the Health Minister said youth club volunteers would go door to door throughout the state to distribute tokens.Citizens would have to visit designated centres with those tokens, along with their Aadhaar cards and voter IDs, to get their health cards made.Emphasising zero tolerance towards fraud or exploitation, the Health Minister said the entire cost of the scheme, from the preparation of health cards to medical treatment, would be borne by the government, and no individual or agency was permitted to charge even a single rupee at any stage.“The government is providing health cards free of cost. Anyone who makes fake health cards or charges people in the name of this scheme will face legal action,” he added.Referring to complaints received from Muktsar and Mansa, he said the government had already taken strict action where some individuals were illegally charging Rs 50 for making health cards.“Both individuals have been suspended, their licenses cancelled and FIRs registered against them,” added the minister.
