Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress general secretary Suchitra Devi has been expelled from the party after she levelled allegations against the Congress leadership, claiming that Rs 7 crore was taken from her on the promise of giving her a ticket from the Bawal Assembly constituency.The action was taken by Haryana Mahila Congress president Pearl Chaudhary, who issued orders removing Suchitra Devi from the party with immediate effect. Party sources said the decision was taken following her public statements in which she accused the Congress high command and the Gandhi family of demanding money in exchange of a party ticket.Suchitra Devi had recently made explosive allegations, claiming that she was asked to arrange Rs 7 crore for securing the Congress ticket from Bawal in the Haryana Assembly elections. Her remarks quickly triggered a political storm and sparked reactions within party circles.Following the controversy, the Haryana Mahila Congress leadership termed her statements “baseless and against party discipline”, saying that making such allegations against the party’s top leadership violated organisational norms.After reviewing the matter, the state Mahila Congress chief decided to expel Suchitra Devi from the party, stating that strict action was necessary to maintain discipline and the party’s image.The development has intensified political debate in Haryana, with opposition parties likely to raise the issue in the coming days. The Congress leadership, however, has maintained that the allegations are unfounded and politically motivated.
