Mohit Suri’s “Saiyaara”, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the Indian box office in just nine days. The romantic musical drama has earned an estimated Rs 217.25 crore net domestically and over Rs 280 crore worldwide, making it the second-highest grossing Hindi film of 2025, behind “Chhaava”.After opening strong with over Rs 83 crore in its first weekend, “Saiyaara” has demonstrated impressive staying power. On day nine, the movie saw a 50 per cent jump from its second Friday, collecting Rs 26.5 crore to officially enter the Rs 200 crore club. Globally, its nine-day total places it among the top Hindi earners of 2025.Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar lauded the film’s performance, calling it an encouraging sign for new talent in the industry. Despite featuring a debut lead pair, “Saiyaara” has outpaced established blockbusters such as “Housefull 5”, “Raid 2”, and “Sitaare Zameen Par”, redefining expectations from films without star power. The film’s success is particularly notable for its genre—a romantic musical drama—where strong word-of-mouth has fuelled growth. Trade analysts now expect “Saiyaara” to near or surpass Rs 300 crore worldwide by the end of its second weekend. With promising momentum and minimal competition at the box office until August, “Saiyaara” may well dethrone “Chhaava” in the coming days to become the year’s top Hindi-language grosser.
