Bring your old saree to good use
From a festive run to a wedding celebration, a saree is a staple of every woman’s wardrobe. However, as time passes, it becomes common for old sarees to get replaced with new ones. Stop this process of giving away right now and recycle it into something more iconic and special. Let’s learn how to turn a saree into a long gown in this step-by-step guide.
Collect these materials
Take 1 saree, any fabric, and a sewing machine. You will also need a pair of good scissors, chalk, measuring tape, and an elastic waistband.
Step 1
Choose the colour or print of your saree, but beware of opting for a heavy saree if you wish to make a Western outfit from it.
Step 2
Fold the saree into four layers flat on the floor and use a measuring tape to create a semicircle from a downward position with your chalk.
Step 3
Mark the positioning of your skirt, and with an elastic waistband and sewing machine, sew the waist section. Your skirt will be all ready.
Step 4
To make the top, take a plain fabric and fold it in half. Use the chalk to make the markings and cut the fabric with scissors. Make the neckline of your choice.

Step 7
