Rapper-musician Badshah on Tuesday apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for his controversial Haryanvi song “Tattiri”, and vowed to work for women’s empowerment.He was summoned by the women rights body as it said the song promoted obscenity and vulgarity towards women.The action was taken in response to several complaints alleging that the song had offensive and sexually explicit lyrics as well as undesirable imagery that could hurt viewers, particularly children.Along with Badshah, directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, as well as producer Hiten, were also present during the hearing at NCW.The hearing was presided over by NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar.She said the lyrics of the song and its presentation hurt the dignity and decency of women, and directed the parties concerned not to repeat this in future.“I will work for the upliftment of women and society. I will submit a ‘positive’ song on women empowerment within four months, and will not engage in any such activity in future,” Badshah is reported to have told the commission.Badshah, or Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia also offered to sponsor the education of 50 economically weak girls.NCW had also issued summons to actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt after taking suo moto cognisance of media reports over alleged obscenity in their recently released song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the film “KD: The Devil”.
