Some members and coaches of the Indian cricket team have been on an unprecedented temple run during the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, making it a point to visit religious place at match centres just before the match day.A day before the T20 World Cup final, the team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, along with other members of the squad visited the Hanuman Temple in Ahmedabad to seek blessings.Earlier, ahead of the crucial semifinal against England in Mumbai on March 5, Gambhir, Suryakumar, Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma visited the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple on March 4.Before the do-or-die Super Eight match against the West Indies on March 1, Gambhir, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, Suryakumar, Abhishek and Axar had sought the blessings of goddess Kali at the historic Kalighat temple in Kolkata.Meanwhile, Abhishek and Axar had earlier visited the historic Arulmigu Marundeeswarar Temple in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, to seek blessings ahead of their Super 8 match against Zimbabwe on February 25.Indian team members have visited temples at various match centres in the past as well, but this consistency throughout the T20 World Cup has caught the attention of cricket fans.
