Iran on Sunday questioned the ‘fairness’ off the 22 countries that had written a letter condemning it for “attacks” on commercial shipping and for closure of Strait of Hormuz. In a response posted on X by the Iranian embassies across several countries, Iran asked, “What was the situation with the Strait of Hormuz before the illegal war of aggression by the US and Israeli regimes?”“Didn’t you know that you were all benefiting from the free passage of energy and trade, while Iran—under constant U.S. disruptions—was hardly able to benefit from that same privilege,” Iran said. “We remained committed to ensuring safe passage for others? Was that not total restraint by Iran, even under such hardship?” It has asked the 22 countries to “stop accommodating the American and Israeli aggressors”.Twenty-two countries had jointly condemned Iran over attacks on commercial shipping and civilian energy infrastructure in the Gulf, warning that the situation threatens global energy security and international peace.
