The Ukrainian Embassy in New Delhi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Moscow, alleging that Russia was orchestrating a “deliberate disinformation operation” in India by fabricating inputs about alleged Ukrainian “terrorists” to influence an ongoing investigation.The mission, in a statement, accused Russia’s propaganda apparatus of planting “fabricated information” with the Indian authorities through intermediaries. It said the move was aimed at drawing India into a geopolitical narrative “not of its own making”.The statement comes days after the arrest of seven foreign nationals — six Ukrainians and one American — by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with an alleged terror plot with cross-border links.According to probe agency officials, the accused allegedly entered India and subsequently travelled to the North-East before moving into Myanmar, where they reportedly established links with insurgent groups and were involved in imparting drone and weapons training.The Ukrainian embassy asserted that such actions reflected a pattern of Russian conduct, accusing Moscow of systematically using disinformation as an instrument of foreign policy and attempting to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states.Kyiv also took exception to comments from Russian officials on the case, alleging that “verdicts” were being pronounced even before the conclusion of investigation. Such conduct, it said, suggested an attempt to reduce Indian institutions to instruments endorsing decisions taken elsewhere.
