Union Home Ministry moves out of North Block to its new address at Janpath

Just days after the Centre invited bids to select a consultant for designing the Yuge Yugeen Bharat museum, which is to come up at the North and South Block complex, several offices of the ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have started shifting to their new address — the newly constructed Common Central Secretariat (CCS) building at Janpath as part of the Central Vista redevelopment plan.AdvertisementAccording to an MHA order dated July 17, the process of shifting all offices located at the North Block to CCS-3 has begun and nodal authorities have been designated to ensure the transfer. As part of the Central Vista redevelopment, a CCS consisting of 10 office buildings and a conference centre at Kartavya Path has been envisioned to house all central ministries. The first three of these office buildings are nearly completed.Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan was among the first to move to the new office complex. The MHA has been allotted 347 rooms in the new complex. The iconic North Block has been the address of the MHA, Finance Ministry and Ministry of Personnel and Training since the pre-Independence era.The neighbouring South Block houses the PMO, Defence Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs.
