US focused on leadership in AI, emerging tech: Gor

Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Wednesday said the US was focused on leadership in artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies and innovation. He made the remarks while addressing industry leaders who are part of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), an official partner of the ongoing India AI Impact Summit.The USISPF hosted Gor, who is also Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, at a luncheon on Wednesday, marking its first official engagement at the summit.Sharing his experience from the roundtable, Ambassador Gor posted on X: “We focused on US leadership in AI, emerging technologies and innovation.”“Great conversation with CEOs and executives from 50+ companies, including Adobe, Microsoft, Amazon, Mastercard, General Catalyst, Lockheed Martin and Boeing,” he added.The USISPF said the discussion covered a wide range of topics, including US-India strategic and defence ties, recent trade successes, resilient supply chain partnerships, the creation of trusted digital corridors and the energy and trade partnership.The high-level luncheon in New Delhi was chaired by Shantanu Narayen, Vice-Chair of USISPF and Chair and CEO of Adobe. Narayen said the US brings advanced research institutions, deep capital markets and leadership in computing and semiconductors.“Together, we can harness the power of AI to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time and unlock unprecedented opportunities for economic and societal advancement,” he said.The event saw participation from senior industry leaders, including Brad Smith, Vice-Chairman, Microsoft; Hemant Taneja, CEO, General Catalyst; Maeve Culloty, President and CEO, HPE Financial Services; Sachit Ahuja, Co-President, Tillman Global Holdings; Bipul Sinha, CEO, Rubrik; Umesh Sachdev, CEO, Uniphore; Raj Koneru, CEO, Kore.ai; Salil Parekh, CEO and MD, Infosys; Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO, ReNew; Balkrishna Goenka, Chairman, Welspun World; Manoj Menda, Chair of the Supervisory Board, RMZ; and Aparna Bawa, Chief Operating Officer, Zoom.The USISPF said the discussion also included senior executives from its board member companies, including the Aditya Birla Group, Essar, HCLTech, Mastercard, Google and other leading multinational companies with substantial investments in the US-India corridor.
