Vijay Chaudhuri has stepped down as Chief of Staff to Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, leaving City Hall after nearly a decade to pursue a career in political and government consulting. He was succeeded by his wife, Christine Stoll, who assumed the role on February 28.Mayor Bhalla praised Chaudhuri’s contributions, stating, “Vijay Chaudhuri is one of the finest public servants I have had the privilege of working alongside. His unwavering commitment to Hoboken and his deep understanding of government have helped transform our City for the better.”Chaudhuri first joined Hoboken’s city administration in 2015 as Chief of Staff to former Mayor Dawn Zimmer. He later took on communications and leadership roles under Bhalla’s administration and played a key role in Bhalla’s 2017 mayoral campaign, which resulted in him becoming New Jersey’s first Sikh mayor.Reflecting on his tenure, Chaudhuri said, “Serving the residents of Hoboken has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime.” He expressed gratitude to both Zimmer and Bhalla for their trust and leadership, highlighting the impact of the projects he worked on.Before his time in Hoboken, Chaudhuri served as Director of Community Relations for former US Representative Joseph Crowley, who was chair of the Queens Democratic Party. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wesleyan University.
