Adding yet another milestone to its world record legacy, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has once again etched its name into global history by achieving its 6th Guinness World Record, this time through an extraordinary celebration of culinary excellence and national pride.The record was created for the largest display of meringue-based sandwich cookies (macarons), featuring an impressive 10,829 tricolour macarons arranged to form the national flag. The achievement surpassed the previous record of 9,600, transforming the LPU campus into a vibrant canvas of culinary artistry and patriotism.Students and faculty members from the School of Hotel Management and Tourism dedicated immense skill and passion to this monumental endeavour, taking pride in representing India on a global platform.Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, stated, “This Guinness World Record is a vivid manifestation of the ‘EduRevolution’ ethos that has been integral to LPU’s DNA for over a decade. It perfectly reflects our philosophy where learning transcends textbooks. Here, students did not merely study patisserie arts; they gained first hand, immersive experience in mastering the intricate craft of creating thousands of perfect macarons. From technique to execution, this achievement embodies LPU’s commitment to tangible, real world outcomes and global excellence.”This record follows five previous Guinness-certified milestones that reflect the university’s dynamic range including, the largest ‘Bhangra’ performance in 2018 to the profound social impact of the largest drug awareness lesson the same year. The pursuit continued in 2021, with technical prowess shown in the largest online video album and physical discipline in a unique thumb push up record. In 2022, LPU translated its influence into advocacy, forming the world’s longest line of sanitary pads to break taboos around menstrual hygiene.
