A 32-year-old married woman in Surjeet Colony, Jagirpur, Ludhiana, died by suicide after being blackmailed by her landlord. It is alleged that the suspect filmed her while she was bathing and was blackmailing her with the video.The deceased has been identified as Rozy. According to the family, Rozy’s husband had been staying abroad for the past five months in search of employment. Rozy has a son and a daughter, the entire responsibility of the children was on her shoulders.The deceased’s father, Pala Ram, in a statement to the police said on February 9, he received a call, informing him that his daughter had hanged herself and died. When family members rushed to the place to check, Rozy’s in-laws said she had never mentioned any problems and always spoke happily about her children.Her father said shortly before her death, the deceased had made a video in which she clearly made serious allegations against her landlord. According to sources, Rozy recorded several video clips on her mobile phone before taking the extreme step.In all of these, she expressed her anguish and directly blamed her landlord, Satnam, also known as Tikka, for her death. Rozy described the mental torture and blackmail she had endured for a long time.Investigating officer ASI Baljit Singh said the case dates back to February 9. Rozy’s post-mortem examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital and the body was handed over to her family.The Tibba police have registered a case under Sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS. Two persons, the landlord and his wife, Pushpa, have been named in the case.
