To boost grassroots women’s sports and nurture emerging talent, Roundglass Hockey Academy (RGHA) will start ‘Punjab Hockey League – NexGen Girls (5S)’– Five-a-side tournament.The event will witness competition among 19 teams from various RGHA development centers across Punjab from February 28 to March 1, and later from March 7 to March 8.The event will be held across Malerkotla and Jalandhar. The 19 participating teams have been drawn into four competitive pools (Pool A, B, C, and D), featuring young, enthusiastic squads from centers, including Barnala, Patiala, Malerkotla, Baba Bakala Sahib, and Khalsa College Amritsar, among others.Speaking on the launch of the ‘Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Hockey’ league, Rajinder Singh, Technical Lead, Roundglass Hockey Academy, said, “The Punjab Hockey League – NexGen Girls (5S) is a vital platform for our young female athletes to showcase their skills, build confidence, and experience the thrill of competitive match-play.”“The 5-a-side format is incredibly fast and dynamic, which will significantly sharpen their reflexes, stamina, and on-field decision-making. Our goal is to empower these girls at the grassroots level, providing them with the exposure they need to eventually represent Punjab and India on the global stage,” he added.
