At just five years and six months of age, Shreyan, a chess prodigy and son of Vishrut Bharti, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Fatehpur in Kangra district, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing an official rating from FIDE (International Chess Federation).FIDE is the international organisation for chess and used to conduct rated tournaments in the region.With this feat, he has become the youngest FIDE-rated player in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh.According to information, Shreyan participated in three open FIDE-rated tournaments featuring players across all age groups.These tournaments were held in Kangra on January 3–4, Dehradun on February 8–9, and Delhi on March 21–22.Competing against much older and experienced opponents, including players aged between 20 and 30 years, the young talent displayed exceptional skill and composure.Through his impressive performances in these tournaments, Shreyan earned his first FIDE rating of 1415 on April 1. His ability to hold his own against seasoned players has drawn admiration from the chess community.His father, Vishrut Bharti, shared that Shreyan developed an interest in chess at the age of four years and eight months. He initially learned the game through online platforms such as Chess.com and Lichess.org, where he regularly practiced and honed his skills.Currently a UKG student at Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh, Shreyan has also joined a chess academy in Chandigarh to receive professional training and further enhance his abilities.
