A 26-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances on a road side near a canal on the outskirts of Jandiala Guru town in Amritsar district on Tuesday, officials said.According to a complaint filed by victim Rohit Masih’s father, he left home on Monday morning for work as per his daily routine but did not return in the evening.He stated that repeated calls to Rohit’s mobile phone went unanswered and the family contacted relatives, but his whereabouts remained unknown throughout the night.Later, a local milk vendor informed the family that a body was lying along a roadside. The family rushed to the spot and found Rohit.The family alleged that there were visible injury marks around Rohit’s neck which led them to suspect foul play.Police reached the scene of crime and sent the body for post-mortem. Officials said preliminary findings suggest suspicious circumstances.Officials said they are examining call records, scanning CCTV footage in the surrounding areas, and questioning local residents to trace Rohit’s last movements.“Post mortem was conducted today and the exact cause of death would be clear in the autopsy report,” said SHO Naresh Kumar from Jandiala police station.Police maintained that all angles, including personal enmity and robbery, are being probed.
