15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi now holds the new record of hitting maximum sixes– 60 to be precise and still counting—in a single season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history.During the Eliminator between Jattviberisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Sooryavanshi surpassed the record of 59 sixes hit by West Indian legendary power hitter, Chris Gayle during the 2012 IPL season. He also became the youngest to score 600 runs in an IPL season.A staggering 54 per cent of Sooryavanshi’s runs have come from sixes.
