Police have booked two employees of Chandigarh University for allegedly duping 39 international students of Rs 23.7 lakh in February.Admission Officer Danish Mahajan, a native of Gurdaspur, and Akshay Wesley of Pathankot reportedly diverted payments into their personal bank accounts and issued forged university receipts.Complainant Sachin Gill, in his complaint to Mohali police, stated that the accused intentionally redirected students to third-party agents on the pretext of consultancy services and took illegal commissions.A Nepalese student flagged the discrepancy on February 3 after his tuition fee and hostel charges were shown as unpaid despite depositing Rs 2.1 lakh.University officials have taken necessary steps to recover the students’ money.A case of criminal breach of trust as well as cheating was registered at the Kharar police station on April 25.
