With the arrest of a Tarn Taran resident, the Amritsar rural police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged conspiracy to target police establishments. Two hand grenades, some detonators and a pistol were seized from him.The accused was identified as Lovepreet Singh, alias Akashpreet Singh, of Dinewal village under the Goindwal Sahib police station in Tarn Taran. The arrest was made in the Chatiwind police station area where he was waiting to deliver the consignment.Amritsar rural SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said a case had been registered at the Chatiwind police station and further investigations were underway.During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that the consignment was dropped inside Indian Territory in the Attari sector a few days ago by Pakistan-based smugglers using a drone.The hand grenades were allegedly intended to be used in attacks on police establishments, said police officials.
