Nearly 25 employees, including some doctors posted at the Civil Hospital, Muktsar, have been served with show-cause notices for allegedly remaining absent without prior information or arriving late.
The issue came to light when Dr Chandar Shekhar Kakkar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Muktsar, made a surprise visit to the hospital on Saturday.
The CMO issued show-cause notices to the defaulters and made it clear that such negligence would not be tolerated. He instructed the hospital staff to report on duty on time without fail, emphasising that any future lapse would attract strict disciplinary action.
He directed doctors to prescribe only those medicines that were available in the hospital pharmacy. “A large number of people depend on this hospital. Any lapse in duty is a betrayal of the public trust. Staff must perform with full dedication or be prepared to face consequences,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Navroz Goyal, officiating Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Muktsar, said, “Nearly 25 employees have been served with show-cause notices. They include doctors, laboratory technicians and staff nurses. Since it was Saturday, a few employees had sought relaxation in duty, citing parent-teacher meetings at their children’s schools.”
