Chandigarh Police will see changes in its senior leadership after the Centre on Thursday ordered the transfer of three serving superintendents of police (SPs) from the Union Territory to Delhi while posting two new IPS officers to Chandigarh as part of a larger reshuffle of AGMUT cadre officers.According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) orders, a copy of which is with The Tribune, IPS officers Manjeet (2015 batch), Geetanjali Khandelwal (2015) and K M Priyanka (2021) have been transferred out of Chandigarh.In their place, Rajesh Kumar Sharma (2014 batch) has been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir and Vinit Kumar (2018 batch) from Delhi to Chandigarh.With three IPS officers moved out and only two posted, Chandigarh’s sanctioned strength has effectively fallen short by one IPS officer for the time being.Manjeet, who was handling Headquarters, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime and Communication, has been transferred to Delhi.Geetanjali Khandelwal, in charge of Operations, Cyber Crime and Vigilance, has also been posted to Delhi. K M Priyanka, who was looking after City, Women and Child Support Helpline and Intelligence, has been transferred to Jammu & Kashmir.Among the incoming officers, Rajesh Kumar Sharma, a 2014-batch IPS officer, has been shifted from Jammu & Kashmir to Chandigarh, while 2018-batch IPS officer Vinit Kumar has been transferred from Delhi to Chandigarh.The transfers are part of a wider reshuffle of IAS and IPS officers of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre approved by the competent authority.The MHA order issued on Thursday transferred 21 IAS officers and 40 IPS officers across various AGMUT cadre segments, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, Puducherry, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH&DD).The transfers have been ordered with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
