Panic prevailed due to an explosion that occurred last night at a house near Patel Park in Abohar, blowing off the doors of the residence and nearby shops, and causing a wall to collapse. Three persons, including a woman, sustained injuries.Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh, along with other officials and Forensic Science Lab team, reached the site to ascertain the exact cause of explosion. Preliminary reports suggest that it was a gas cylinder blast, although some locals speculate that the presence of flammable materials within the house may have been a contributing factor. The exact cause of the blast will only be determined following a thorough investigation.It is reported that the explosion took place at the residence of Deepu Chugh, a local resident. The blast was so powerful that it had a severe impact on the surrounding shops. A man operating a tandoor (clay oven) nearby, along with a customer who had come to collect rotis, were caught in the blast’s aftermath. Reports indicate that a refrigerator and other items kept inside the tandoor operator’s shop were also damaged.Among the injured is a woman residing in the very house where the explosion occurred. While the entire neighbourhood was left shaken by the blast, the fire brigade was immediately summoned to the scene to extinguish the ensuing fire.All three injured individuals, who suffered severe burns, were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where they are currently receiving preliminary treatment.Upon receiving the news, former MLA Arun Narang and other activists arrived at the Civil Hospital to enquire about the condition of the injured.Currently, the late-night cylinder explosion has created an atmosphere of panic within the neighbourhood. It has been reported that immediately following the blast, alert residents demonstrated great presence of mind by retrieving several gas cylinders from amidst the flames. Had they not done so, the explosion could have been even more catastrophic.Damage casused due to the explosion.
