Marking one year since the terror attack in Pahalgam, the European Union and its 27 member states on Wednesday reaffirmed their solidarity with India, paying tribute to the victims and condemning terrorism in the strongest terms.In a statement issued on the anniversary, the EU said it stood with the people of India in remembrance of those who lost their lives in what it described as a heinous act of violence.It expressed support for the bereaved families and acknowledged the efforts of Indian authorities in the aftermath of the tragedy.Honouring the victims, the EU reiterated that terrorism in all its forms is unjustifiable and must be unequivocally condemned.At least 26 people, including 25 tourists, were killed and 12 others injured when terrorists opened fire after targeting victims on the basis of religion in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. The attack was carried out by multiple terrorists linked to Pakistan-based outfits.In response, India launched precision strikes in the early hours of May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, described by officials as measured and focused, struck nine sites believed to be linked to cross-border terror planning.
