A sudden fire broke out in the kitchen of a Best Western hotel on Sultanpur Lodhi Road in Kapurthala on Wednesday morning, resulting in damage to property worth over Rs 10 lakh. However, no loss of life was reported, providing significant relief.The fire reportedly started around 10.30 am following a spark in the kitchen chimney, which quickly escalated and spread within the premises. Hotel staff immediately swung into action, attempting to douse the flames using in-house fire safety equipment while simultaneously informing the fire brigade.Acting swiftly on the alert received at approximately 10.40 am, a fire brigade team reached the spot and initiated a rescue and firefighting operation. Led by Fire Officer Harpreet Singh, an 11-member team deployed three fire tenders and managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly one and a half hours.According to the fire department, preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused due to sparking in the kitchen chimney. Hotel managing director Rajinder Koda confirmed the same.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and evaluate safety measures in place.
