Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora today said Baljit of Gazipur village, who died near Latianwal village in Kapurthala due to drug overdose a few days ago, had been hooked on synthetic drugs for the past five years.The SSP said, “The post-mortem examination of the body was conducted to ascertain the exact cause of Baljit’s death. He was undergoing a trial in a theft case, during which he missed several court hearings. It has come to the fore that his brother had died in his sleep on October 2, 2025. However, the family didn’t provide any information to the police.”Despite consuming drugs for the past five years, Baljit was never admitted at any de-addiction centre.
