Two persons were gunned down in an agricultural tract of land, while another was injured after unidentified persons opened fire at them in Bhuma village under Sri Hargobindpur police station late on Monday night.The deceased have been identified as Kashmir Singh and Jugraj Singh. Another person, also named Jugraj Singh, sustained serious injuries and is recuperating in a private hospital.SSP Mehtab Singh said the killings were neither linked to gang war nor extortion-related incidents.“Several teams have been formed to look into the sequence of events leading to the crime. Officers have come across some important clues and we hope to nab the accused soon. The deceased and the injured were strolling in their agricultural fields when they were fired upon,” the SSP said.An FIR has been registered at Sri Hargobindpur police station.A senior police officer said Kashmir Singh had an NDPS case registered against him. “We are exploring all angles leading to the incident. Investigations are underway and CCTV footage in the area is being scanned,” he said.
