Two persons, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a police team and obstructing official duty during a patrol operation in village Rampur Jattvibenra near Phagwara, officials said on Saturday.A case was registered on a complaint lodged by Rawalpindi village SHO Sub Inspector Major Singh under Sections 133, 132 and 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The accused, identified as Harjeet Singh and his mother Gurbaksh Kaur, both residents of the same village, were taken into custody.According to the complaint, during patrolling, the police team stopped a youth standing near the roadside for questioning, but he allegedly resisted and engaged in a scuffle with police personnel.Hearing the commotion, his mother came out from a nearby house and allegedly joined in resisting police action and interfering in official duty.During the scuffle, SHO Major Singh’s turban reportedly fell off and his uniform was allegedly torn, police said.
