Manvinder Singh Giaspura, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from the Payal constituency, has received a death threat from notorious gangster Doni Bal, who allegedly threatened to kill both the legislator and Arhtiya Association Payal president Avinashpreet Jalla.Following the incident, the Khanna police have enhanced the MLA’s security and initiated an investigation.According to available information, the gangster initially called and threatened Jalla while MLA Giaspura was present. The MLA took over the call and warned the caller not to issue threats. In response, the gangster allegedly said, “I will kill you publicly and post a video. First, I will eliminate Jalla, then it’s your turn.” The MLA reportedly replied, “Kill me first, then Jalla.” A 15-minute video of the exchange has also surfaced. After receiving repeated threats, Giaspura wrote to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, requesting enhanced security for himself and his associates. In his letter, the MLA highlighted a series of incidents in the Payal constituency. He stated that on April 10, an arhtiya received a threatening call from abroad, following which his police security was increased. On April 15, a firing took place at the arhtiya’s shop, though no casualties were reported. The next day, Jalla held a press conference against the gangsters and later received another threat call from a foreign number. Giaspura said he personally spoke to the caller for around 15 minutes, urging him not to disturb Punjab’s peace. He further noted that police arrested those involved in the firing by April 25, offering temporary relief. However, threats continued in the names of Doni Bal and Shagunpreet Singh, former manager of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The MLA also mentioned that on April 30, Dilshad, a member of his media team, was stopped and threatened by three unidentified youths on a motorcycle without a number plate near Rano Bridge. In his letter, Giaspura made four key demands: a high-level probe into the matter, strict legal action against the accused, enhanced security for him and his associates, and a thorough investigation into the source of the threats.Meanwhile, Khanna SSP Dr Darpan Ahluwalia confirmed that an FIR has been registered and security has been increased. “Khanna police are dealing strictly with such miscreants. Several associates of Doni Bal operating in Punjab have already been arrested,” he said.It is pertinent to note that fugitive Shaganpreet Singh, a proclaimed offender in the Vicky Middukhera murder case and former manager of Sidhu Moosewala, along with Doni Bal, has allegedly targeted seven businessmen in the Khanna police district, including a jeweller.About ‘Doni Bal’Balwinder Singh, alias Doni Bal, hails from Pati Balel village in Amritsar.
